This recipe for Simple Yogurt Peanut Butter Apple Dip is made with just four ingredients, has no refined sugar, and the kids LOVE it!
Heads up! This post was originally published way back in 2010!! I added some updated photos and left the original photos of my daughter Meghan when she was still a toddler The rest of the text is the same as originally published. Enjoy this healthy snack recipe!
One of my favorite things to eat growing up, besides Spaghetti-O’s and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, was caramel apple dip. Oh, it was so sticky, sweet, and delicious.
I was tempted in the store the other day when I saw a container of it next to the rows of locally-grown apples. Those marketing people know what they’re doing.
But, as a health-conscious mama, I took a gander at the label. I’ve grown accustomed to being disappointed when learning about the ingredients of childhood favorites. The number one ingredient was, of course, sugar. #2? Corn syrup.
I stopped reading and put the sticky deliciousness back on the shelf next to the apples. I took a second look and almost let my sentimental side get the better of me, but instead found some great-looking apples and made a mental note to create an apple dip at home without any refined sugar.
It isn’t a caramel dip, but this apple dip is delicious. It brought me back to my childhood and as Meghan happily dipped her crisp apple I realized that her childhood recollection of apple dip would be much more healthful than mine.
Her favorite apple dip is made with REAL food. What a lucky little girl.

Here is Meghan enjoying her snack of apples with dip. Yes, that is a bib from her 1st birthday. Yes, she just turned 2. Bibs seem to mysteriously disappear around here, so that’s the only one that was around.
On another note, if you saw this post on my quest to reduce plastics in my life, you will know how excited I was to find this yogurt on my grocery store shelves. Not only is it in a glass bottle, this yogurt is certified organic from grass-fed cows from a local farm! Serious score. Yes, of course it is more expensive than the regular yogurt I buy (either Stonyfield Organic or Trader Joe’s Organic), but the glass bottle makes it worth it to me. I hope enough people buy this that the store continues to carry it.
